We are proud to announce that our unique, lightweight MS200 system will be the insulation panel system for the exterior sump and underdeck areas on the Ørsted and Eversource Sunrise Offshore HVDC (high-voltage direct current) platform.

The HVDC Platform is being built in Damen Yard in Mangalia, Romania. Once built, the HVDC platform will be shipped to the Sunrise Offshore Wind Farm, located approximately 48 km east of Montauk Point of Long Island, New York. The MS200 system will provide a minimum of 0.5 W/(m² k) U-Value based on a 60 mm thick panel. To add to this, the full system will only weigh 7.6 kg per m². MS200 will have a 30-year design life, even in the harsh environmental conditions of the Atlantic Ocean.

Construction of the Sunrise project started this year with operations scheduled to begin in May 2024. Ørsted and Eversource selected Siemens Energy and Aker Solutions consortium to supply the (HVDC) transmission system for Sunrise Wind. A landmark operation, it is New York’s first utility-scale offshore wind project.

The impressive project will generate enough electricity to power more than 500,000 homes. It will also support the New York State Governor’s target of producing 9,000 MW of offshore wind power by 2035 as part of a Green New Deal plan. This includes a mandate to generate 50% of the state’s electricity from renewable sources by 2030.

We're excited to be part of such a significant project.
